Issan Inspirations is a Thai company formed on Fair Trade principles which is working to help the cause against the exploitation of women and children. Issan Inspirations believes in providing a good benefits package and a pleasant work environment for its workers as well as investing back into the local community.
The majority of hand-woven silk produced specifically for Issan Inspirations comes directly from a village woman’s co-operative in the traditional silk making region of Issan. This ensures that the fair price paid, goes directly to those doing the work.
Issan Inspirations is also associated with “The Tamar Center” a charity that helps exploited women to escape from prostitution. By providing training, support and counseling these women are helped to regain their self-respect and given the skills necessary to support themselves.
As well as making a monthly donation to the charity, Issan Inspirations has pledged to donate 5% of it’s net profits to “The Tamar Center” and provides training in sewing skills. Some of the girls trained by Issan Inspirations become employees of the company, whilst others opt to return to their villages to use their newly acquired skills to build a new life.
